This is the time of year when we start thinking about ways we can be more proactive in taking care of our environment. Because plastic water bottles take centuries to decompose, this simple solution may be the answer we've all been looking for! Check out the video below and website HERE! After a month of reading challenges, we finally have a winner. Thirty-one days in the month of March - each having a reading challenge to complete. Students that completed a minimum of 25 challenges and returned their calendar on time were entered into a random drawing by grade level. The winner of the drawing would receive a $10 gift card to Barnes and Nobel! The second grade winner came directly from OUR classroom; how exciting! Congratulations to Melody for a job well done! Melody was also one of the students who participated in motivating her peers by sharing her reading pictures on our social media sites! Thank you to Melody and all the others who shared their photos! How does vibration speed affect pitch? Just ask my second graders1 First we experimented with long rulers vs short rulers, which vibrate at different speeds. Then we grabbed the ipads to see how the speed of our vocal cords' vibrations affected the pitch of our voices....Get ready for a laugh!
"Oh where oh where have our rainforests gone? Oh where or where can they be?" They are being cut down for paper...so please NO NOT PRINT the Rainforest Script! Below you will find the link to the script so your child can practice their lines over and over at home. The play is on May 21st @ 7pm...and it'll be here before you know it. So tell your friends and your fa-mily, about our rainforest plight. If we work hard to save them now, then things might turn out just right!" DO NOT PRINT: Rainforest Play Script and Songs! |
