Our day started off with a demonstration of "How to Carve a Pumpkin in 5 simple steps." Mrs. Zemmer and I took a pumpkin, a black Sharpie, and a kitchen knife and went to work! Afterwards, students did a great job of retelling the story in sequential order using their time words and quick illustrations. We even heard a fun read aloud of The Big Pumpkin by Mrs. Zemmer (the good witch)! The afternoon was fun with our annual Halloween Parade and fun and games in the classroom. Thank you to all parents who came to play in our classroom! We enjoyed all the homemade treats and the thoughtful games, too! Check out some of our photos from the day.

Dear Room 34 Families,
It’s October…and our children have only one thing on their mind as the days move closer to the end of the month: HALLOWEEN! Mrs. Mattson and her crew of volunteers are planning a very exciting Halloween Celebration for Thursday, October 30th. If you can donate or participate, please check out the sign-up genius below. Halloween Party Sign-up Genius! I'm happy to announce that my sister had her second baby boy on Friday! Major Marcel Brooks is absolutely perfect, and I am so excited to be an uncle to another precious little boy.
As we continue to learn about communities, students work hard as small group communities to share their learning in the form of large community posters. These posters came together after lots of preplanning, including a silent chalk talk where groups contributed ideas to each other's group plan. This was truly a collaborative effort...well, don't take my word for it, check out the photos!
I can already tell that our Author Mentors, David Shannon and Lois Ehlert have had a positive influence on our 2nd grader writers! Today we celebrated their first published stories with an Author Leaders Celebration! They wrote with such voice and shared with their Storyteller voices! What a great morning it's been so far in Room 34!
Super-Toad Mike to the Rescue! Take a look at all that Mike has to share about himself! Add a compliment below to make him feel extra special during his week as classroom Leader! |
